Beara west family resource centre events and news

Beara West Family Resource Centre 

We provide a wide range of services in Beara West Family Resource Centre (BWFRC) including printing, helping you to fill out forms and a space to talk to a friendly, supportive member of staff. If you’re facing a challenge and don’t know where to turn to please pop into us and we will support you as best we can.

Creative Carers

Are you a Family Carer? Are you caring for a loved one? If so, come along to our free craft/art session run by Benedicte Colman. You don’t have to participate in the craft/art, you are very welcome to come and have a cuppa and a chat and meet other Carers.

Women’s Group

Join us on Tuesday 10th June 7pm-8pm for our monthly Women’s Group, taking place this month in Scoil an Croi Ro Naofa School Hall. It is €5 to attend. Understanding Self Harm Training

Taking place in Beara West on May 21st 9.30am – 5pm. This workshop provides opportunities to improve knowledge, awareness and understanding of self-harming behaviour. Please register in advance and contact Claire Dickinson for more information on 086 022 3398. 


Free Committee Training Workshop 

with Fergal Conlon in Beara West on Monday 26th May at 6.30pm. This training is for all groups and organisations and will cover various topics such as importance of communication, roles and responsibility, Whatsapp group etiquette and more. To mark Pride Month (June) 

Beara West and Foróige are inviting children of primary school age to create a rainbow-inspired picture through drawing or painting. All creations can be dropped off at Beara West before May 30th at 4 pm. Young people from Foróige will select the winners. Make sure to put your name, age, and contact number on the back of your drawing. For more information, contact us on 027 70998.


Chat & Connect Parent’s Evening

Pop into Beara West on Thursday 5th June at 7pm for our monthly Parent’s Evening. It’s a space to connect with other parents, chat with a Family Support Worker and explore a parenting support topic. It is €5 per session. Contact us by phone 027 70998 or email reception@bearawestfrc.ie


Beara Big Bash Summer Gathering

Beara West Rhythm Room 

with Laura on Wednesday’s from 2pm to 3.30pm in BWFRC.

Old faces and new faces come together each week to share songs, poems, tea and chat in BWFRC. New members are always welcome. €5 per household. Booking essential due to limited capacity. You can book in by phoning the centre on 027 70998.


Meals on Wheels

A team of dedicated volunteers deliver low-cost nutritious meals every Thursday directly to your door. The meals change each week and offer a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian.  Please contact Beara West Family Resource Centre on a Monday to order your meal.


Seniors Alert Scheme

If a monitored personal alarm at home would give reassurance for anyone unwell or living alone, we facilitate setting up the Senior Alert Scheme.

 

Care Ring

Friendly volunteers make social phone calls regularly keeping people connected with their community. Please let us know if you would like to receive a phone call


Low-cost Counselling

Beara West FRC can connect you with a trained therapist who provide a confidential space for you to talk through any challenges you are facing. This service is available at a low-cost.


Meeting Rooms

We also have meeting rooms available to book, including on Monday & Thursday evenings up to 8.45pm.

CAha centre - events for Older People and Carers

Chair Tai Chi classes in The Caha House, Ardgroom every Tuesday 11am.

Free Creative Carers session, postponed until September 


The Monthly Caha Men’s Social, John Greene visits The Caha House Ardgroom Thursday May 22nd at 8pm, “Where the Road took Me”. €10pp, All Men Welcome.


Crochet Workshop for Beginners at The Caha House, Ardgroom, Monday May 26th, 2pm-3:15. €5 pp.


Ardgroom Community Coffee Morning Wednesday June 4th , the Caha House, Ardgroom at 11am-12:30, with Susan, prescribing link worker. Explaining her role and the supports she offers.
