Beara west family resource centre events and news

Beara West Family Resource Centre

Phone or pop into the Beara West Resource Centre if you’d like to check out how we can support you, as an individual, as a family, or as a group.

We offer assistance with administration tasks such as online renewals and form-filling, access to low-cost counselling, family support and family learning, one-to-one confidential practical and emotional support, photocopying and general enquiries.

We encourage active participation in our community and endeavour to host a range of activities that we hope will provide new learning and a social outlet.

For more info about any of these events please call into Beara West Family Resource Centre, phone 027 70998 or email info@bearawestfrc.ie

Beara West Needs You!

Would you like to make a difference in your community? Beara West is looking for volunteers to help support our local services, from friendly phone calls, delivering Meals on Wheels to lending a hand at events and activities. Just a little of your time can make a big difference in someone’s life. If you can spare some time and would like to get involved, please contact us on 027 70998 – we’d love to hear from you!

Activities at Beara West have taken off this year, from the Rhythm Room on Wednesdays to the Women’s Group Patchwork Workshop last week; the availability of the Toy Library, Meals on Wheels and more; and the various groups that hold their meetings at the Centre including Parent & Toddler, Unislim, Active Retirement Group and more.

Activities at the Centre are led by the needs of people locally and line up with our ethos to encourage active participation in our community. Get in touch if you’d like to know what activities are coming up.

We support individuals and families in a range of ways from confidential practical and emotional supports to form-filling and various paperwork.

Skillshare: Card-playing – Monday March 23rd

Join the Women’s Group on Monday March 23rd at 7pm for a Skillshare session with card-playing enthusiast Mary Short who will introduce the Bonkers Rummy card game. Suitable for all ages and levels. Call 027 70998 to secure your seat or simply pop in on the night.

Easter Family Learning - Thursday March 26th

Join us for Easter Family Learning at the Beara West Resource Centre on Thursday March 26th from 9:30am to 11:30am. Children aged 0–4 can enjoy sensory play, crafts, songs, and stories. The cost is €5 per family. To book your place, please call 027 70998.

Citizens Information Talk Series: There are two very informative talks coming up on Friday March 27th. From 11am–1pm Carer Supports Available – Am I a Carer? And from 2pm–4pm New Parents? Know Your Benefits.

Booking is essential, and a minimum of 10 attendees is required for each session. For more information, or to book your place, phone the Centre on 027 70998.

Rhythm Room - Wednesdays 2.15pm to 3.30pm

The Rhythm Room is in full swing on Wednesdays at 2.15pm. Come and enjoy a few tunes together with friends. The session costs €5 per household. Please phone 027 70998 to book your place or visit www.bearawest.ie and complete the registration form in the Events section at the end of the homepage.

Toy Library

Our Toy Library offers lots of choice for 0-5 year olds and toys can be rented out for one month at a time. Become a member for an annual fee of €10 for a child or €20 for a family. Pop into us or phone 027 70998.

Meals on Wheels

A wonderful team of volunteers deliver low-cost, wholesome meals every Thursday to people living in the Beara area. There are meat, fish, vegetarian and soft & savoury options to choose from each week. If you wish to sign up for meals, or to volunteer to deliver meals, give us a call at the Centre.

Senior Alert Scheme (personal alarms)

If a monitored personal alarm at home, in the form of a wrist strap or pendant, would give reassurance for anyone unwell or living alone, we facilitate setting up the Senior Alert Scheme. Give us a call.

Care Ring

Care Ring social phone calls are made by friendly volunteers throughout the year. The calls are a chance for a chat during the day keeping people connected with others. Please let us know if you would like to sign up for the service.

Meeting Rooms

Meeting rooms at the Centre are available to book, including on Monday and Thursday evenings up to 8.45pm. Give us a ring to discuss your needs.
