CAha centre - events for Older People and Carers

  • The Magic of Plants workshop 11am-1pm Thursday 2 July.  Adrigole Community Garden at the Caha Centre.  Using plants to make non-toxic cleaning solutions, making feeds for plants and harnessing properties of comfrey, rosemary etc for your health.  Suggested donation €5 to support the garden.  All welcome.

  • Beara Men’s Shed Summer Excursion. Saturday 4 July to Macroom Buffalo Farm & Kilmurray.  Contact Tina 083-3258584 to book

  • Crochet in the Caha House in Ardgroom Monday 6 July 2pm-3.30pm.  €5 donation. New crocheters welcome.

Beara West Family Resource Centre 

Phone or pop into the Beara West Resource Centre if you’d like to check out how we can support you, as an individual, as a family, or as a group. 

We offer assistance with administration tasks such as online renewals and form-filling, access to low-cost counselling, family support and family learning, one-to-one confidential practical and emotional support, photocopying and general enquiries. 

We encourage active participation in our community and endeavour to host a range of activities that we hope will provide new learning and a social outlet.

Beara West Needs You!

Would you like to make a difference in your community? Beara West is looking for volunteers to help support our local services, from friendly phone calls, delivering Meals on Wheels to lending a hand at events and activities. Just a little of your time can make a big difference in someone’s life. If you can spare some time and would like to get involved, please contact us on 027 70998 – we’d love to hear from you!


Activities at the Centre are led by the needs of people locally and line up with our ethos to encourage active participation in our community. Get in touch if you’d like to know what activities are coming up.

We support individuals and families in a range of ways from confidential practical and emotional supports to form-filling and various paperwork.


DIARY:


Stay & Play at Beara West Resource Centre – Fridays July 31st and August 28th from 10:30am to 12pm. 

We are delighted to host a series of Stay & Play sessions for parents, caregivers, babies, and young children. Join us for a relaxed and welcoming morning featuring songs, story time and sensory play activities for children. Tea, coffee, and light refreshments will be available providing a great opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet, chat, and connect with other local families. Places are limited so advance booking is essential. Please contact Beara West Resource Centre to reserve your place. We look forward to welcoming you and your family. 


Rhythm Room 

The joyful singing group that is Rhythm Room is taking a break for the summer. We thank all participants for making the sessions the fun that it is and we look forward to welcoming the group back at Beara West in September. 


Toy Library 

Our Toy Library is busy with families popping in and out borrowing toys, puzzles, books and other fun items. The Toy Library is for 0-5 year olds and items can be rented out for one month at a time. Become a member for an annual fee of €10 for a child or €20 for a family. Pop into us or phone 027 70998. 


Meals on Wheels 

Meals are available to order each week for a €5 charge. Volunteers deliver to your door on Thursday and there are four meal options each week – meat, fish, veggie and soft & savoury. Call us at 027 70998. 


Senior Alert Scheme (personal alarms) 

Monitored personal alarms offer reassurance for anyone unwell or living alone. Give us a call at 027 70998 to sign up. 


Care Ring – social phone calls 

If you, or someone you know, would like to receive regular, social phone calls from our friendly Care Ring volunteer team, please contact the Centre. 


Meeting Rooms Available 

Meeting rooms are available to book, including Monday and Thursday evenings up to 8.45pm. Give us a ring to discuss the needs of your group.
